The 2024 Glasgow Botanic Gardens Orchid Fair will be held within the Grade A listed Kibble Palace on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May 2024. This popular event, now in its 25th year, remains the only dedicated Orchid Fair in Scotland and provides an ideal opportunity for you to come and not only admire displays of these exotic plants, but also to purchase a wide range of orchids from specialist UK nurseries.
The Scottish Orchid Society has had a long association with the Gardens and assists with the running of this annual event. Entrance to the Orchid Fair is free and members of the Society will be on hand to offer advice on how to care for your orchids and answer any queries you might have.
There will be orchid displays by the Scottish Orchid Society, North of England Orchid Society, North East of England Orchid Society, Hinckley & District Orchid Society, as well as the Hardy Orchid Society. Helen Millner will also return with her award winning educational exhibit on orchid pollination.
On the Saturday Christine Nicholson, the orchid propagator at the Gardens, will lead a guided tour behind the scenes of the orchid collection at the Botanic Gardens. This was very popular last year and places will be limited. You will need to reserve your place on the tour by visiting the Scottish Orchid Society display on the day.
A wide variety of orchids and growing accessories will be on sale from Burnham Orchids, Orchid Botanics, Spicesotic Plants and Orchid Accessories. Carnivorous plants will be on sale from Scotland Carnivorous Plants and don’t forget that Nepenthes are ideal companion plants for orchids.
